Compose a Message
In the main menu of Pine, use the arrow keys to 'COMPOSE MESSAGE'. Once you
are there, press the RETURN key. You should see in front of you a screen
that resembles something like the following:
To :
Cc :
Attchmnt:
Subject :
----- Message Text -----
:
:
:
^G Get Help ^X Send ^R Rich Hdr ^Y PrvPg/Top ^K Cut Line ^O Postpone
^C Cancel ^D Del Char ^J Attach ^V NxtPg/End ^U UnDel Line^T To AddrBk
At the 'To' field, type in the email address of the person/group that
will be receving your mail. The 'Cc' field, which carries over from the
old days when carbon copies were used, holds addition email addresses
which will receive a carbon copy of the letter. If you want to attach any
files in your email, you will enter in their complete filenames and paths in
the 'Attchmnt' field. Be forewarned though, if you attach a file, the
receiving party MUST be using a MIME mail reader like PINE to be able to
extract the attached file(s). The 'Subject' holds the subject of the
message. After having enter the necessary information, you are now ready
to type in your message. Use the arrow keys to move around the text. If
the arrow keys send out wierd characters, use the following key chart:
Up - Control P
Down - Control N
Right - Control F
Left - Control B
Once your message has been satisfactory edited, type '^X' to send the
message; The '^' infront of the 'X' denotes a control key. Looking at the
menu at the bottom of the screen, you will see an array of different
commands; All of which are self explainatory.
