A World-Wide Perspective on the
World Wide Web:
Exploring Foreign Language Materials on the Internet
Mariana Long and I developed this web page for the Maryland Day open
house at the College of Library and Information Services (CLIS) as an
additional source of information for participants to explore after the
lecture. The organization of the page follows the structure of the
core courses here at CLIS. The materials here provide just a small
glimpse into what we already know about how to cope with the torrent
of information that is now becoming available over the global network,
and we have included some examples of productive search strategies in
case you want to explore further.
In this paper, Michael Lesk argues that we will soon be able to
save all of the information that we produce, but that such an outcome
would only exacerbate the problem of finding what you are
looking for.
