ABOUT ME

My name is Xiaolong Luo. My friends also call me Shalom, which means peace in Hebrew and is close to the pronunciation of my Chinese name.

I am a student in the Fischell Department of Bioengineering in University of Maryland at College Park. I am currently a PhD candidate working on BioMEMS projects and my advisor is Prof. Gary Rubloff.

I grew up in rural south China and spent my college life in Hangzhou, one of the two cities famous with the proverb "There is Paradise above, and there are Suzhou and Hangzhou on earth". It is in Hangzhou that I first met my wife and renewed my faith. I am married and now father of a two-years-old son.

After I came to US in 2001, I spent two years in Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love. Then I moved to Maryland in 2003 for my PhD study and expect to graduate in August 2008.
